Kansai International Academy, Kobe Campus is a CIS accredited school

In January 2023, Kansai International Academy (KIA) Kobe Campus achieved CIS (Council of International Schools) accreditation.
CIS (Council of International Schools) is a global accredited education organization that over 822 schools and 610 universities in 122 countries join.
Students aged 18 or above who completed a 12-year course are qualified to take university entrance exams for universities in Japan and major universities abroad. As a school that chooses not to belong to a MEXT recognized Ichijo school, we believe that CIS accreditation is necessary for us as a means of legitimizing ourselves as an educational institution.

The award of CIS accreditation recognizes our school’s commitment to student well-being, high-quality learning, and teaching, as well as to global citizenship and intercultural learning. Achieving CIS accreditation shows that KIA:

    What is global citizenship?
    People who try to realize a society where people overcome differences relating to race, nationality, thought, history, culture, religion, etc., and are respected as a person regardless of their background.
     
  • Eligibility for admission to universities in Japan and overseas for students educated in CIS-accredited schools
    The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) grants university admission to those who have completed 12 years of study at an educational institution accredited by CIS, an international evaluation organization.

    CIS has more than 625 CIS-accredited universities in 26 countries around the world, including Japan, Asia, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, which provide guidance counseling information with universities that meet students' needs.     It’s essential for staff enrolled in CIS accredited schools to undergo a strict background check including a criminal background check. CIS continuously conducts strict investigations to create a safe and secure environment for children and minors.

International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an international educational organization established in Switzerland to provide a uniform, high quality educational curriculum across countries and regions, and currently has over 4,100 accredited schools around the world.

The IB aims to create a better, more peaceful world through education as its mission.
In the IB education, children develop skills that will be useful even in the times of uncertainty, learn multiple perspectives and gain deep understanding of the world around them: natural world, human society, language, the development and identities of self and others, people’s expressions, and more, from the local to global levels. Through the education of the PYP framework, we develop learners who are characterized by the 10 Learner Profile Attributes.

Kansai International Academy Kobe Campus has been accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) since April 2015, and is the only school that offers the PYP (Primary Years Programme) in Japanese and English(ages 3-12).Kansai International Academy is an authorized IB world school for the Diploma Programme since January 2020.

The IB’s Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) (as well as the IB Career-related Programme (CP)) can only be offered by schools accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization.

Round Square

As a candidate school of Round Square, KIA can offer students additional opportunities for learning and personal development through international travel, adventure, service projects, conferences, and school exchanges. Round Square is an international network of 200 schools worldwide, all focused to encourage students’ personal and academic development both in and beyond the classroom. Round Square promotes six IDEALS of global citizenship: International Understanding, Democracy, Environmental Awareness, Adventure, Leadership, and Service.
